EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Jo Thompson
Jo has spent the past twenty years working in community development and management positions in the not-for-profit sector. She has a wealth of experience in Asia, the Pacific and Indigenous Australia and comes to YCA following 10 years managing Caritas Australia’s Australian Indigenous Program. Jo brings a great depth of understanding of the volunteer experience having spent time working as a volunteer teacher in a Tibetan refugee camp in India, and as a manager of Pacific Programs for Australian Volunteers International.

As a parent, Jo is passionate about ensuring that young Australians are provided with educational, fun and safe opportunities to participate in the international and community development sectors. She sees YCA’s program as a unique catalyst for change both for young people themselves and for the communities with whom they work. Jo has served as Vice President on the Australia Tibet Council board and is a former Convener of the Women’s Action and Information Group.
